    What Newcastle homeowners say

    • Our board was still on ceramic fuses when we bought the place. New board with safety switches on every circuit, done in a day, and every breaker labelled before he left.

      Megan MerewetherSwitchboard upgrade

    • Half the house went dead at 7pm on a Sunday. Someone actually answered, was here by eight, found a burnt-out connection behind the oven and fixed it there and then.

      Dave CardiffEmergency callout

    • Quoted the charger off a few photos, turned up the day they said, and the price on the invoice was the price on the quote. The cable run along the carport is dead straight.

      Priya Warners BayEV charger

    • Four fans in a fibro cottage with barely any roof space. No mess, no extra holes, and they swept up after themselves.

      Tom BelmontCeiling fans

    • The pre-purchase inspection found a DIY circuit in the back extension. The vendor fixed it before settlement instead of us after.

      Sarah & Ben HamiltonSafety inspection

    • Twenty-two old halogens out, LEDs in. The kitchen's brighter and the next power bill was noticeably lower.

      Lyn CharlestownLED downlights

    • Interconnected alarms in the rental between tenants. The compliance certificate was in my inbox that afternoon.

    • Got a text when they were fifteen minutes away. Small thing, but nobody else we've used has bothered.

    FAQ

Questions people ask a Newcastle electrician

    Do you do emergency callouts?

Yes, 24 hours a day for safety issues like no power, burning smells or exposed wiring. During business hours we can usually be at a Newcastle or Lake Macquarie job within the hour.

    Are you a licensed electrician?

Yes. Tallowood holds NSW electrical contractor licence 000000C (demo), and every job is done by a licensed electrician. Work that needs one gets a CCEW, the NSW Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work.

Do you charge a call-out fee?

Only for emergencies and fault-finding, where nobody knows what's wrong until we look, and we tell you the fee when you book. Quotes are free with no obligation, and the price you agree to is the price you pay.

What is a Level 2 electrician?

A Level 2 electrician is accredited to work on the network side of your meter, which a standard licence doesn't cover. You need one for a new connection, moving the meter box, or upgrading the supply to three-phase. Tallowood is Level 2 accredited (demo), so the same crew does both sides of the meter.

How fast can you get here?

Every job we take is within 30 minutes of our Charlestown base. For an emergency in business hours we're usually there within the hour. For anything else we come back with a free quote, usually the same day.

    What areas do you cover?

We're based in Charlestown and cover Newcastle and Lake Macquarie, from the CBD, Hamilton and Merewether down to Belmont, Warners Bay, Swansea and Toronto.
